The City of Riverside Fire Department joins Mayor Patricia Lock Dawson and regional water partners to celebrate the arrival of the innovative PumpPod, a closed-loop training system designed to dramatically reduce water use while maintaining full firefighting effectiveness.
Developed through a first-of-its-kind partnership with Riverside Public Utilities, Western Municipal Water District, and Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, the PumpPod captures and recirculates water used during live training exercises, conserving an estimated 3.5 to 4.5 million gallons each year.
Funded through collaborative agency contributions and a state grant, the project highlights how strong partnerships can deliver solutions that are both environmentally responsible and fiscally sound, helping Riverside lead the way in sustainable public safety innovation.
